James Baxenfield was born in England but has lived in Eastern and Central Europe for most of his adult life. He resides in Estonia where he is actively involved in the literary scene; both as a writer and apublisher, directing the not-for-profit publishing house Villane Raamat MTÜ. Baxenfield has taught at a number of higher education institutions. He currently lectures at the University of Tartu on topics ranging from Rudyard Kipling to Estonian Literature.
